When you get a little further out, there is a shallow reef on the left where the waves might be 2 or 3 meters high. Some more experienced surfers will enjoy browsing in the middle of the reef, or within the coast where the waves break steep, while the less experienced surfers can still work out next to the reef for a little calmer water.

If you are a good and experienced windsurfer and have your own equipment, Lanzarote is full of very good places for windsurfing. Jameos del Agua is located northeast of the island, or you could go to Famara on the west coast. Jameos del Agua is without doubt one of the toughest places to surf in Lanzarote and is really a place for the technically skilled. The waves are broken in several parts of the volcanic reef.

La Santa on the West Coast provide a sheltered lagoon for beginners. Matagorda is located just north of Puerto del Carmen, and also have favorable conditions with flat water suitable for beginners.
