Pico del Teide on Tenerife

Pico del Teide is the highest mountain in Spain, with its 3.717 meters, and is also the highest mountain on all of the islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The mountain on Tenerife is also a volcano, but the last eruption here was in 1909, so there should be no danger to either residents or tourists visiting this magnificint island. Future volcanic eruptions will occur, but probably not for a long time from now.

Many tourists who travel to Tenerife, visit Teide each year. You can drive up till 2300 meters, and from there there is a cable car to 3,500 meters. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view of Tenerife and some of the other Canary Islands. On a cloudless day, you can see over to La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria.

We recommend to go for a walk up to the Teide, the next time you plan to go on vacation to this beautiful holiday destination. It can be nice to have the car for a day, so you can catch all the different valleys running down from Teide. Great nature with a number of cactuses and other beautiful flowers.

Just remember that the cable car up the mountain is closed if the weather is bad, so if you want to go almost to the top, it may be okay to do this one day when the weather is nice. Teide and the surrounding area is a national park, and was in 2007 listed on UNESCO's list of world natural heritage. Pico del Teide is a truly majestic mountain, which should be experienced on your next holiday to Tenerife.
