Far south in the wonderful island of Lanzarote, you will find the resort of Playa Blanca. With it's calm beaches, this resort this destination is ideal for families, who yearn for a relaxing trip to the sun and summer. The beach here can actually reminiscent of that of Alcudia on Majorca, just a little smaller. Here you will find nice hotels, good restaurants, and much else that you need to relax in peaceful surroundings. Playa Blanca is not yet the most visited destination on Lanzarote, but can quickly turn it up, if more and more people open their eyes to this wonderful place.
Playa Blanca was once a small fishing port. In the recent years the resort has developed into the second largest city in Lanzarote. Playa Blanca is very popular with families because of their size and family-friendly beaches. Two more beaches were recently added to Playa Blanca, to make up for lack of space on the main central beach. Along the nicely-maintained streets, you will find a good selection of shops, restaurants and clubs.
There are three beaches in the area and Playa Blanca is the longest. This one is situated by the harbor. To meet demand, as I said, it have been made two more beaches, Playa Flamingo to the west, and to the east Playa Dorada. The beaches here have fantastic views of Fuerteventura, with yellow sand, a calm and sparkling water for safe swimming and lots of water sports activities.
If you desire a little more secluded privacy, you should try the beautiful beaches of Punta del Papagayo, which is near the Playa Blanca area in the south. The Papagayo beach is generally considered the best natural beach on the island. The beaches in this area is popular with both divers and those who use the snorkel.
This is a resort that is quiet, but a good selection of restaurants and eateries can be found on the little square beyond the harbor. Here you get great seafood along with Canarian specialties like papas arrugadas, small boiled potatoes in sea salt, with a sauce that is to die for. Although this is a resort designed for families, there are also some bars in this cozy area. For a relaxing holiday in the water's edge, the Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is highly recommended!
