In 2008 nearly 3 million people visited this beautiful holiday island. Gran Canaria is located in the Atlantic ocean, and is part of Makronesia which includes the Canary Islands, Madeira, Salvaje, the Azores and Cape Verde. The African coast is approximately 210 kilometers away, and it's 1.250 km from mainland Spain. The Canary Islands have a total of 7 different islands. Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. The capital is divided between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Just over 2 million people are living on islands, and 840,000 of them live on Gran Canaria, around 340,000 in the capital of Las Palmas. The island has a round shape with a diameter of about 50 kilometers. Gran Canaria is called a continent in miniature. The climate is unique and is divided into three different zones, where the southern attracts tourists from around the world every year. <a href="http://eng.rockyadventure.com/">Go Hiking in Gran Canaria with Rocky Adventure</a>! <br />
<br />
Some of the most famous tourist areas in the south are; Bahia Feliz, San Agustin, Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas, Sonnenland, Meloneras, Arguineguin, Patalavaca, Puerto Rico, Amadores, Playa del Cura, Taurito and Puerto de Mogan. Most tourists that go on holiday to Gran Canaria come from Germany, followed by the U.K., Norway, Sweden, Holland, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium.<br />
<br />
Some of the most popular activities available in Gran Canaria is located on the south side of the island. Sioux City in Playa del Aguilla, near San Agustin is a western park with cabarets, Cowboy and Indian shows, a games area, children's activities, restaurants, barbecues and the largest exhibition of reptiles and amphibians on the island.<br />
<br />
Aqualand in Maspalomas is the largest water park on the island. 90.000m2 with 14 great attractions and 30 water slides for all of the family. They also have restaurants, souvenir shops, changing rooms and a fantastic atmosphere. Palmitos Park, Maspalomas has animals from all continents. The park was destroyed in a major fire in 2007 but is now totally restored and improved. Animals includes exotic birds, aquarium fish, mammals, butterflies, reptiles, primates and different kinds of shows every day.<br />
<br />
Gran Karting Club in Bahia Feliz is the largest Go-Kart track on the island, 1,650 feet long. They have go-karts for children and adults. Barbecues, private parties and events for groups and companies can be arranged. The most famous beaches on Gran Canaria include the sand dunes of Maspalomas, Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas, Playa del Ingles, Playa Amadores and not so well known Playa Gui Gui on the west side of the island. All beaches have received the quality standard that is marked by a blue flag, which indicates a high standard and cleanliness of its beaches. Enjoy a wonderful holiday on your next trip to Gran Canaria!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-7344459358025121432010-09-09T11:40:00.000+01:002010-09-09T11:40:55.656+01:00El Golfo Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Another excursion you should take on your next holiday to Lanzarote, is a visit to El Golfo. This is a natural amphitheater which is open toward the sea, and was formed by a volcanic eruption in 1730. The lagoon that fills the bottom of the semicircle-shaped crater, is a result of floods, and the green color is from algae that live in the lagoon. This lake has been declared a nature reserve, and it is therefore not allowed to swim here. El Golfo is located in the southern part of the island in the municipality of Yaiza. The village of El Golfo is a few meters from the lagoon, where you can relax in any of the restaurants facing the sea with a fantastic view.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The village of El Golfo has possibly the highest concentration of fish restaurants in Lanzarote. For this reason, it is a perfect place for a sunday lunch, and many of the locals goes here on the weekends. It's nice to stroll a bit along the harbour to decide which restaurant to visit. There was talk of tearing down these great restaurants a short time ago, because they really are too close to the sea, but they are now protected. Several of the restaurants are so close to the ocean, that you can observe the staff clean and gut your lunch by the water, much to the delight of the seagulls that come to help them clean up.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There is also a very small hotel here, if you enjoy this place so much that you want to stay overnight. El Hotelito del Golfo, or the small hotel on the Gulf, has 9 rooms, a small swimming pool and a restaurant. A cozy place to spend the night in this volcano created landscape.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">You can go up a hill from the village to get a nice view over the beach and the green lagoon. The trip is a bit steep, but well worth it for the view over the city, the sea and the unusual landscape is truly spectacular. On the way up through the village you will be offered to buy green rocks containing the mineral olivine. It is this together with the algae that gives the water the spectacular green color as it has. Enjoy your visit to El Golfo and Lanzarote!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-29711315392657561262010-08-02T13:25:00.000+01:002010-08-02T13:25:37.558+01:00Playa del Ingles Gran Canaria<div style="text-align: justify;">Playa del Ingles is located in the south of Gran Canaria and have one of the longest beaches of the Canary Islands. The beach stretches over 6 kilometers from Playa Veril in San Agustin, and all the way to the Maspalomas lighthouse on the other side. A portion of the beach also related to the famous sand dunes in the desert, south of the island. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This beachwalk is the place in Gran Canaria which attracts many nationalities, more than anything else on the island. It is possible to rent a jet ski here, there are opportunities for many different types of water sports, volleyball and much more. The boardwalk have about hundred bars and restaurants, there are also many shops here where virtually no one has fixed prices.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The town of Playa de Ingles is well visited by tourists from all over Europe every year. The area may seem a little confusing if you come here for the first time, but is centered around various shopping centers. The first thing you come to from San Agustin is called Tropical. Then follows Plaza, Kashba and Metro. In the last 3, it is full speed every night 365 days a year. Yumbo is a shopping center during the day and Gay center at night. Cita is probably the best shopping center in Playa del Ingles, and here the emphasis on tourists come from Germany. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The town of Playa del Ingles is well visited by tourists from all over Europe, but especially a popular holiday destination for travelers from Holland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway and the U.K. If you enjoy the beach in the daytime and nightlife in the evenings, the resort of Playa del Ingles should be considered on your next holiday to Gran Canaria.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-34015526505656527352010-07-17T21:58:00.000+01:002010-07-17T21:58:06.927+01:00Tahiche Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Tahiche is a small village on Lanzarote, located almost midway between the more famous cities of Arrecife and the resort of Teguise. The city is perhaps best known for one of the most famous people from the island, César Manrique. He was an artist and an architect, who has made a lot of what you see around the island. Everything from sculptures, paintings and he was also developing as tourist areas were developed. His home in Tahiche is now turned into a museum, and welcomes many tourists every year who are interested in more than just the sun and beaches of Lanzarote.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The house of César Manrique does not look so overwhelming from the outside, it is painted white with wooden doors like many other houses on this island, with some palm trees located in the garden in front of the house. It was him who came on to the idea that no houses should be higher than the palms, and this is also the case here. But it is only when you go inside, you come to understand the skill of the artist. The house is built on top of a lava flow, and the window toward the back is actually built around the lava, which almost runs into the house. The garden and the pool is built so that you occasionally wonder if you are inside the house or outside in the garden.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">But Tahiche is more than just the home of César Manrique. Here you will find an old restaurant called Los Aljibes. The restaurant serves no food anymore, but is transformed into a cultural center with various exhibits and events. There is also a small volcano park in Tahiche with stunning views down to Costa Teguise.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">When your daytrip to Tahiche is coming to the end, it might be good to sit down on one of the restaurants in town. Café Aloe can be recommended to quench your thirst, or just to enjoy the view over the city. On your next visit to Lanzarote you should definitely take a trip to this magnificent city. Rent a car for a day, and enjoy this fantastic small town in Lanzarote.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-40449997928429879092010-07-12T15:42:00.000+01:002010-07-12T15:42:31.207+01:00Yaiza Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Yaiza has actually several times been voted the most beautiful city in the whole of Spain, and you have to go there to understand why. This resort town is not on the coast, but a little inside of the island, and has a welcoming calm about it. Here you'll find palm trees, flowers and small white painted houses closely entwined in each other. You can here feel a genuine Canarian atmosphere, like it was before the arrival of tourists to Lanzarote.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Yaiza is bordering the national park of Timanfaya, and even has its own wine. The good wine Geria are produced here, and a visit to one of the bodegas for tasting is almost mandatory. For a slightly different tropical vacation, a stay in Yaiza is strongly recommended. A so-called rural vacation can be experienced here, and accommodation can take place in the magnificent estate Finca de las Salinas. This is no ordinary hotel, but can be booked by several companies on the internet. This was actually an old bodega from the 17th century, and is now converted into a hotel in a very high standard.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Other rural hotels in Yaiza is Casa de Hilario and La Casona de Yaiza. If you do not want to live here during your holiday in Lanzarote, but want to stay close to beaches, this is nevertheless a pleasant excursion. Whether you combine it with a day trip to Timanfaya, or if you want to enjoy a quiet day in relaxing surroundings. As said, this village repeatedly received awards for being one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. If you sit down with a cafe con leche at one of the small bars on the main square, and draw up the atmosphere around you, you quickly understand why. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The magnificent church is also worth a visit, there are a few small art galleries here and if you are looking for local Canarian cuisine, Yaiza has what is often called the best restaurant in Lanzarote. La Era is the place which offers the most amazing meat dishes. Here's Canarian cuisine at its best, and the estate where the restaurant is located in, is worth a visit itself. Enjoy your holiday to Lanzarote.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-30242786320291609242010-05-31T16:59:00.000+01:002010-05-31T16:59:06.017+01:00Arrecife Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote, and many who visit the island forget that this city is worth a visit during the holidays. Here you will find a little more modern version of Lanzarote, a bustling port city of about 50,000 inhabitants, which is about half of those living on the island. Arrecife has great beaches, lots of green areas, cozy promenades, a vibrant nightlife and many opportunities for different kind of shopping.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">As Arrecife already was built long before César Manrique began to shape the development elsewhere on the island, the capital don't have so many elements of the artist's works. But this is a typical small city, where many residents work in the tourist areas either north or south of the city. You will not find as many high buildings here, which may be common in other Spanish cities, but more of the low buildings that characterize Lanzarote.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Arrecife has the largest fishing port in the Canary Islands, and that was the reason in 1852 that the city was designated as the capital of the island, after Teguise. Castillo San Gabriel is over 400 years old fortress used to defend against pirates. The same applies to Castillo San Jose. Both are now converted into museums. The magnificent church of San Ginés built with volcanic stone, is also worth a visit. There are also 2 markets, one with fruit and vegetables, and a fish market.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">From the church down to the sea you come to a large square. This site stands out from the rest of Arrecife, because this is the only part of the city César Manrique has put his stamp on. Here is a nice place to end today's experiences. You see a variety of bars, restaurants, souvenir shops, lots of palm trees and a beautiful view of many of the small boats bobbing in the sea off the beach. Enjoy your holidays to Arrecife and Lanzarote!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-68786009247502603202010-05-26T13:34:00.002+01:002010-05-26T13:36:17.749+01:00San Sebastian La Gomera<div style="text-align: justify;">San Sebastian is the largest city of La Gomera and the place where most visitors to the island arrive. Fast boats take you from the tourist resort of Los Cristianos on Tenerife in only 45 minutes. The city of San Sebastian offers a friendly and beautiful appearance that is typical of the smaller Canary Islands.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Most people forget about the smaller islands like La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera, when they are planning a holiday to the Canary Islands. But these islands are definitley worth a visit.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
The locals, backpackers and package tourists on day trips from Tenerife meet at sidewalk restaurants around the square in San Sebastian. The athmosphere is relaxed, and children and older people can be seen playing. Below the square is a large beach with black lava sand. Affordable guesthouses and apartments are easy to be found, but not the big hotels you see in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.<br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The city has a handful of hotels, including the state-owned "Parador Nacional Conde de la Gomera" who is by far the finest with four stars and a splendid Canarian architecture. It is situated on a hill above the town with beautiful views of Tenerife.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
San Sebastian is best known as the place where Christopher Columbus left when he discovered America in 1492. Here you can learn a lot about Columbus, and all of La Gomera is often called "Columbina". You can wander around the narrow streets and see all the sites linked to Columbus.<br />
<br />
From San Sebastian you can rent a car, go on a jeep safari or take a bus excursion to see the unique landscape and nature of La Gomera. Both walking and cycling is possible. The island is only 25 km in diameter, but is extremely rugged. There is a ferry from San Sebastian to Playa Santiago and Valle Gran Rey on La Gomera, and also to El Hierro which is the least known of all the Canary Islands.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">For your next visit to the Canary Islands, include the wonderful island of La Gomera!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-26700422271064891512010-05-22T11:14:00.002+01:002010-05-22T11:15:56.448+01:00Windsurfing in Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">The mild sunny climate, the warm water, the wind and the waves makes Lanzarote a top destination for windsurfers and surfers from around the world. Lanzarote with its location in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean has a perfect setting for windsurfers. From April to September, trade winds blow regularly, while in the winter winds are more variable and may vary slightly in strength. Lanzarote also has an excellent infrastructure with many facilities for tourists who do not surf.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The beach of Las Cucharas in the <a href="http://canaryislandstravelguide.blogspot.com/2010/04/costa-teguise-lanzarote.html">Costa Teguise</a>, is the most famous place for windsurfing in Lanzarote. It is very popular because the trade winds is blowing sideways here, which is especially good for windsurfing. It is not without reason that it is arranged the World Cup here. Here you can also find the largest windsurfing school on the island, if you are new to the game and want good training.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Las Cucharas and the beach is an ideal area for beginners, especially in the morning when the wind is lighter. When you get a little further out, there is a shallow reef on the left where the waves might be 2 or 3 meters high. Some more experienced surfers will enjoy browsing in the middle of the reef, or within the coast where the waves break steep, while the less experienced surfers can still work out next to the reef for a little calmer water.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you are a good and experienced windsurfer and have your own equipment, Lanzarote is full of very good places for windsurfing. Jameos del Agua is located northeast of the island, or you could go to Famara on the west coast. Jameos del Agua is without doubt one of the toughest places to surf in Lanzarote and is really a place for the technically skilled. The waves are broken in several parts of the volcanic reef.<br />
<br />
La Santa on the West Coast provide a sheltered lagoon for beginners. Matagorda is located just north of <a href="http://canaryislandstravelguide.blogspot.com/2010/04/puerto-del-carmen-lanzarote.html">Puerto del Carmen</a>, and also have favorable conditions with flat water suitable for beginners.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you are planning a trip to Lanzarote, which includes windsurfing, remember that the wind is at it's strongest most of the summer from May to September. Enjoy your vacation to Lanzarote!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-85976414761348630372010-05-19T10:37:00.002+01:002010-05-19T10:39:39.077+01:00Los Christianos Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">A little friendly and charming resort town in the south of Tenerife, is Los Christianos. It has retained some of the old Spanish style, and hotels are located between common houses and apartments. The resort is not artificially constructed only for tourism, which is more the case in the neighboring town of Playa de las Americas.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Los Christianos is one of the places in Tenerife which is well visited, and is popular both because of its good climate and the pleasant life which the city has to offer. Los Christianos is essentially a fishing port, and you can here take the ferry over to the neighboring island of La Gomera, which you can see from all over the city, provided it is not very cloudy. The ferry company Fred Olsen provides a short trip across to the island of La Gomera.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Los Christianos is the first resort you come to in Tenerife, if you land on the Reina Sofia, the southern airport. The city is only a 10-15 minutes drive from the airport. Here you can enjoy a little Spanish flavor, with its narrow pedestrian streets, friendly local tapas bars and a slightly more intimate feel than some of the other island destinations. Here you will find a climate that ensures a week of a very good vacation or maybe even a longer stay. The risk of experiencing cloudy weather for a longer period of time is almost zero, at least if you compare to the northern side of Tenerife, where it can rain for days in the winter.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This city attracts perhaps a slightly older audience than what the neighboring town of Playa de Las Americas are doing. There is not many discos and nightclubs, so you can enjoy your sleep without noise from spots nearby. Los Christianos has a pleasant selection of shops and shopping centers. There is much of this except in the old town, where you do not find any hotels. The few hotels you see in Los Christianos are mostly down by the beach of Playa de las Vistas, otherwise most private apartments.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Los Christianos is probably one of the better destinations in Tenerife, when it comes to a sunny climate, a friendly and exciting city and also with lovely swimming and sunbathing opportunities. That in addition it's a short distance from many other activities on the island, do not make it into a bad alternative. Enjoy your vacation to Tenerife!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-14331394616025194832010-05-13T21:44:00.002+01:002010-05-13T21:46:21.501+01:00Playa de las Americas on Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">One of the most popular holiday destinations in the winterseason, is located on the south side of Tenerife and is called Playa de Las Americas. The area was built up for tourists 40 years ago and has since been a wellknown and loved destination for tourists from all over Europe. In winter, the main weight of the tourists come from Norway, Sweden, Holland, Germany and the U.K. Here you will find a 15 km long shoreline, with promenades, shops, restaurants and lots of hotels, all arranged for you to relax in the sun. The nearby resorts of Los Christianos and Fañabe, with great beaches and beautiful flowers, are in walking distance.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This resort town is the largest in Tenerife and has over 500 large and some smaller hotels. The climate here on the southern tip of Tenerife is the best on the island, and you will seldom experience clouds or rain, but more common is the sun, the sun and the sun again! In winter there are usually between 20 and 26 degrees during the day and the temperature in the ocean is like 18-21 degrees, so it's fine to take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean while you are here on vacation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Some recommended restaurants here must be first and foremost, La Rana. This fancy restaurant allows you to cook your own food on the table. Molino Blanco and Coeur de filet are other good places to eat, the latter perhaps the best on the meat dishes in the city. You can also find a variety of tapas bars where food is located in the bar, and the menu is determined from day to day, depending on what the markets has to offer of fresh food. The Canarian potatoes with mojo is a sure winner, salt and strong, and fits perfectly with a glass of Dorado beer.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>Playa de Las Americas</i> is probably really a destination that is suitable for holidaymakers of all ages. A short distance from the airport and close to places to visit, such as <a href="http://canaryislandstravelguide.blogspot.com/2010/04/pico-del-teide-tenerife.html">Mount Teide</a>, making your holiday destination to a very suitable place to spend a couple of weeks under the sun and blue sky. Enjoy your vacation to Playa de las Americas!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-48001567168026591712010-04-19T10:35:00.002+01:002010-04-19T10:36:41.614+01:00Hiking in La Palma<div style="text-align: justify;">La Palma is one of the smaller Canary Islands, and offers fantastic hiking up the slopes that impress a lot of tourists. If you enjoy hiking in the mountains while on vacation in Tenerife, and have time for a day trip over to La Palma, this is highly recommended.<br />
<br />
Fred Olsen has a ferry company that carries you between the islands, and the boats run from Los Christianos in the south of Tenerife to Santa Cruz de la Palma. The trip usually takes a little over two hours. It is also an opportunity to fly between the islands with the airline Binter Canarias. The flights depart from the Reina Sofia airport, outside of Los Christianos, and the trip takes about 30 minutes.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
La Palma is a small island, located about 50 kilometers west of Tenerife. There is very little tourism, but the little that exists here is concentrated around the fiercely beautiful scenery, and the majestic mountains that you can experience in La Palma. Peak Roque de Los Muchachos is 2,426 meters high. Here you will find marked trails of more than 1,000 kilometers, suitable for all kinds of people from regular hikers to mountain climbers. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">These trails are divided into 3 categories. There are 2 routes that it takes severals days to finish, Ruta de los Volcan and the Ruta de la Cresteria. For those who want to walk a whole day there are 38 different full-day routes and also 24 tracks in less than 10 kilometers. Everything is labeled and easy to follow.<br />
<br />
If you want to spend more time on La Palma, there are not nearly as many hotels here that you will find in for example, Playa de las Americas in Tenerife. But the hotels Hotasa Costa Salinas and Sol La Palma Hotel can be higly recommended. Enjoy your visit to La Palma!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-66523310984328243982010-04-17T15:03:00.000+01:002010-04-17T15:03:59.317+01:00Aqualand Gran Canaria<div style="text-align: justify;">Aqualand in Maspalomas is the number one water park on Gran Canaria. This park is in many people's eyes, the very dream-place on Gran Canaria, especially if you are aged between 3 and 16 years (or more).</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The water park is huge, 90,000 m2 with 14 different attractions. You can swim with sea lions or play miniature golf. Aqualand also has several restaurants, a souvenir shop, a dressing room and 30 water slides to suit all ages. There is a free bus to Aqualand from Puerto Rico and Faro Maspalomas, bus number 701, and from Bahia Feliz and Playa del Ingles by bus number 451. Both runs every half hour. It's also easy to find if you are going with a car.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The most popular attractions of Aqualand are, Tornado, Aqua Mania, Kamikaze, Adrenaline Rapids, Mamut, Polynesia, Congo River, Surf Beach, Sinuoso / Anaconda, Crazy Race and Mini Park. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Do the same thing as Real Madrid player Arjen Robben did in June 2009, and visit Aqualand in Maspalomas. Tthis may be the best water park for the whole family. You'll find it in Maspalomas on the way up to Palmitos Park. Enjoy a great holiday in Gran Canaria, and a wonderful experience or two in the water park Aqualand.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-71657517771140547542010-04-15T15:43:00.001+01:002010-04-15T15:43:20.310+01:00Corralejo in Fuerteventura<div style="text-align: justify;">In Corralejo you travel primarily to experience the magnificent, mile long beaches. The dazzling white beach is a beautiful contrast to the crystal clear blue sea. Corralejo was originally a small fishing village. Today the city is a popular resort town, where surfers and beach lovers spend long days on the beach. You will quickly notice that the Spanish small-town atmosphere is still present in Corralejo. Here you can prance around the atmospheric streets in search of a suitable restaurant.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the small harbor is the more pleasant and very good restaurants. Try the island's specialty, which is as well as fish and shellfish, the cabrito, a tasty dish made from goat meat. The supply of good restaurants, tapas bars and pavement cafes are great in the small town. Only 2.5 kilometers outside the small town you'll find the island's most beautiful beaches of white sand dunes. Foaming waves crash against the fine-grained sand that the wind has brought here from the Sahara. Corralejo has a small beach in town and several beaches in the edge of the northern part of Fuerteventura. The beach areas have plenty of space for everyone.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The days will likely be spendt on the beach and at sea, but Corralejo has a number of activities for those seeking respite from the sleepy beach life. Here you will find a dive center, and it is perfect conditions for windsurfing, surfing, kite surfing, boating and fishing. Fuerteventura is an island with lots of wind, and Europe's answer to Hawaii. In the afternoons and evenings, both surfers and explorers go to the cafes and bars in the port of Corralejo to enjoy the afternoon sun. Enjoy your visit to Fuerteventura!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-21424074826101965242010-04-13T14:56:00.003+01:002010-04-13T16:47:59.374+01:00Restaurants in Gran Canaria<div style="text-align: justify;">Food and drink in restaurants in Gran Canaria can be all kinds of things. You'll find everything from gourmet restaurants and local goodies, to British fish & chips places. Will try to mention some of the best ones on the island..</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We begin in Las Palmas with the best steak restaurant on the island, El Novillo Precoz in C/ Portugal no. 9. It's not that often you pay over 30 euros for a steak on the Canary Islands, but if the price makes you curious, you should by all means take a trip to check it out.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Another very good restaurant on the north side of the island is Restaurante Casa Martell. This is located in El Madroñal, just between the village of San Mateo and Santa Brigida. It was a hundred years ago a grocery store, which was converted into a restaurant. Here you will find superb traditional Canarian cuisine.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Further south of Gran Canaria, we find Bamira in Playa del Aquila at San Agustin. A couple from Austria serves Asia and Africa inspired cuisine, depending on where they have traveled in the summer and what fresh ingredients the island have produced.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Anno Domini is a French restaurant in the shopping center in San Agustin. Giant shrimp a la Provencale and sole in champagne sauce are some of the specialties here. A properly Feinschmecker restaurant of high class.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">In San Fernando, we find perhaps the best fish restaurant on the island, Restaurante Casa Gallega Compostela. Here they get fresh fish from Galicia flown in daily. A paradise for fish lovers.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">For those who like lamb, Las Cumbres Mesón del Cordero in Playa del Ingles is a must. This restaurant is said to be the best restaurant with lamb and is known throughout the island.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">La Aquarela in Patalavaca at Anfi del Mar is another restaurant in the gourmet class. This eating place is frequently visited by Norwegians who both live permanently on the island and those on vacation in Gran Canaria.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This is just a small selection of nice places to eat, but all these restaurants are top quality and keeping absolute the highest quality in food and experiences. Enjoy!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-42119144954587795752010-04-12T16:40:00.000+01:002010-04-12T16:40:20.445+01:00Facts about Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, over 2.000km2 and has nearly 900.000 inhabitants. The largest cities are: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristobal de La Laguna, Arona, La Orotava, Adeje, Los Realejos, Granadilla de Abona and Puerto de La Cruz. The capital Santa Cruz, is also the capital of the other western Canary Islands of La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro. Approximately 5 million tourists visit Tenerife each year, mainly from countries in Northern Europe and Spain. These lands on one of the two airports on the island, Reina Sofia in the south, near the town of Los Christianos, or Los Rodeos in the north of La Laguna. The island also has a ferry-service to La Gomera from the port of Los Christianos, and to the other Canary Islands and the Spanish mainland from Santa Cruz. On Tenerife you can also visit the highest mountain in Spain with 3.718 meters, Mount Teide.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The climate in Tenerife is one of the best in the world. The island has an average temperature of about 22 degrees in winter and 27 degrees in summer. But it's a big difference between the north and the south of the island. While in the north it can be partly cloudy, in the south it's mostly clear skies and sunshine for most of the time. The worst month of the year if you think about the weather, could be december, where you can experience rain on the south side of the island, and also snow up on Mount Teide. In the summer it almost never rains, neither on the north or the south side of the island. The climate is one of the main reasons why so many tourists come to Tenerife every year.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The most popular destinations for tourists is located in the far south of the island. Playa de Las Americas and Los Christianos is located on the Costa Adeje. Another popular destination with a slightly different climate is located further north and is called Puerto de la Cruz. The south of Tenerife, have also many resorts designed for golfers with a variety of golf courses and hotels in the immediate vicinity there of. They are now trying to get more golf tourists to come, and the new hotels being built is in the highest standards. Tourist authorities in Tenerife have seen that golf tourists staying in 5 star hotels, tend to leave more money on the island, and much of the development that is going on now, is done with respect to these. This is a holiday destination that is suitable for people of all ages and covers most of the wishes you should have for a holiday. Enjoy your visit to Tenerife!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-16636121889247278042010-04-10T09:21:00.000+01:002010-04-10T09:21:05.164+01:00Playa Paraiso Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">A relatively new resort on the southwest coast of Tenerife is called Playa Paraiso, and is really a very pleasant and peaceful holiday area. It has been built a lot of new hotels here, and the resort have hotels in relative high standard. The hotel Bahia Principe is a good example of this, a huge hotel with a lot of activities and a great swimming pool.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The old fisherman village Callao Salvaje is located about three kilometers away from Playa Paraiso, and is a nice excursion if you want to enjoy a great meal one evening, in one of the nice restaurants. Here you should eat one of the fishdishes, as they always serve fresh fish from the Atlantic Ocean. This is maybe one of the best areas in Tenerife for eating fish.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> One thing to be aware of if you like to swim in the ocean, is that the beach here in Playa Paraiso is not much to talk about. It is a relatively small black lava beach, but there is a large saltwater pool called Lago Lido, where you can enjoy lazy days on Tenerife. Even though the beach is not that great, it's still quite ok for relaxing and getting a tan.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The resort of Playa Paraiso is located almost midway between Playa de San Juan on the west side, and perhaps the more famous resorts of Playa de Las Americas and Los Christianos on the east side. The golf area of Golf Costa Adeje is only minutes away by car, where you'll find both a 18-hole and one 9-hole golf course. From Playa Paraiso you also have a great view of the neighboring island of La Gomera. Enjoy your holiday on Tenerife!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-80449420485455756722010-04-09T08:17:00.001+01:002010-04-09T08:18:01.698+01:00Puerto Calero on Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Puerto Calero on Lanzarote is home to perhaps the finest marina in the Canary Islands, and one of the most modern in Europe. This destination is small and exclusive, and has also maintained a calm and pleasant atmosphere. Here you can wander the marina for hours, and dream yourself away, while looking at your boat on its way to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Every day in Puerto Calero may be different. There are many different leisure activities like tennis, squash or golf.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This resort is really the most exclusive destination in Lanzarote, and has focused on activities such as spa, fitness center and various wellness centers. These are the two 4 and 5 star hotels in Puerto Calero, Hesperia Lanzarote, and Iberostar Costa Calero. The magnificent harbor was begun in 1986, and currently has space for 420 boats of various sizes.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">A handful of good restaurants are down in the marina, and here you can sit and enjoy the evening after the sun has gone down. Some shops are also found in this area, but if you need something more beyond the small supply available here, you may want to consider a rental car for the entire stay. For those who want to swim in the ocean, or doze on the beach, we recommend a short drive to <a href="http://canaryislandstravelguide.blogspot.com/2010/04/puerto-del-carmen-lanzarote.html">Puerto del Carmen</a>, or some other resort towns in Lanzarote. But if the goal of the trip is to relax by the pool at the hotel, enjoy various types of treatment and explore a day at sea by boat, Puerto Calero is definitely a destination you will enjoy.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">With its exclusive and fashionable shops like Armani, DKNY, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren, good restaurants and a trendy nightlife, this may not be the place you go on a family holiday. But if you on holiday as a couple or maybe two, you will have a very good holiday in Puerto Calero. A restaurant that has to be seen is Amura, as recommended by the Michelin Guide. Enjoy your holiday to Lanzarote and Puerto Calero.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-19539630322817978512010-04-07T12:21:00.001+01:002010-04-07T12:22:09.982+01:00Puerto del Carmen on Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">The oldest resort on Lanzarote is called Puerto del Carmen. Tourism first took off here in 1970, and is still very strong today. Thanks to the fact that Puerto del Carmen has a wide range of hotels, restaurants, shops and long beaches, as the aptly name of Playa Grande. Plus a large selection of apartment complexes that offer accommodation without spoiling the views of the sea, since none of these are built higher than the palm trees on Lanzarote. Puerto del Carmen is located at approximately a ten minutes drive from the airport in Arrecife, and can best be explained as a six kilometers long beach, with the city lying on the side of the road, but not so far inland. The city was like most cities on Lanzarote, one time a fishing village, and the old harbor is still a beautiful sight, with some of the best fish restaurants on the island.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The beaches in Puerto del Carmen, has like others on Lanzarote, the characteristic black lava sand, but has received environmental designation as recognized with the blue flags. The characteristics of beaches that are of good hold when it comes to cleanliness and environmental friendliness. The sea here is pretty calm to be in the Canary Islands, and is very suitable for swimming and other types of water sports. There are also several dive centers based in Puerto del Carmen, and if you have the opportunity to scuba diving while on Lanzarote, it is highly recommended. A trip under the water gives you experiences and memories. Other sporting activities include; deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, cycling, tennis, jetskies and a golf course under construction just outside the city.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you are thinking about some shopping, it's in Puerto del Carmen as the rest of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, always good to check that you get what you buy. Remember that many things like electric articles, is about as cheap as home, and be well assured of at least a good a guarantee. On the new Biosfera shopping center you can find any number of good offers, and your money will move fast. Lunch and dinner you will enjoy in one of the hundred different restaurants and eateries that the town has to offer. There is something for every wallet and taste. Canarian tapas dishes can perhaps best experienced at one of the local bars, and otherwise as mentioned you will find many good places to eat at the Old Port in the Old Town.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The city has been a regular haunt for many european tourists, and some have also chosen to settle here, many at least in the winter. This is however a great resort and Puerto del Carmen should be highly considered for your next trip to Lanzarote.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-61289453047441470482010-04-06T11:43:00.001+01:002010-04-06T11:44:56.407+01:00Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">One of the oldest resorts on Tenerife is called Puerto de la Cruz. The city is located northwest of the island and has retained much of its original charm. Even with all the hotels and tourist sights, that was built in the end of the 1960's. The city has about 32,000 inhabitants, and is with that the 8th largest city in Tenerife. Puerto de la Cruz is a little different from other destinations in the Canary Islands, as the city was not only built up for tourists, but also contains a local urban community with hotels. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The climate here is also a bit different because you are not guaranteed sun in the same way that you are in the South of Tenerife. It rains a lot more in the north of the island, and because of this, it's lush and beautiful here, there's even a botanical garden, which is worth the visit if you are concerned about such things. You'll also find one of the best hotels in the Canary Islands, the Hotel Botanico. A five star hotel with a special oriental spa center and incredibly high standard and service.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Puerto de la Cruz has no especially beautiful beaches, but you may however be tempted with one of the world's largest saltwater swimming pool down in the horizon, the Lago Martianez. You'll also probably like to visit the best zoo in the whole of Spain, <a href="http://canaryislandstravelguide.blogspot.com/2010/04/loro-parque-tenerife.html">Loro Parque</a> which is worth a visit for both children and adults. A great area to walk and relax on the small sidewalk restaurants are the little old town with a large square in the middle. Here you can sit for hours to look at people passing by and enjoy a glass of sangria and some simple tapas dishes. This area is free of cars, making it therefore a good place to relax.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Would you like to play out a little money, there are in Puerto de la Cruz a Casino with a great view over the city. Taoro Casino is located on a hill where you can look out over the sea, and where the money quickly get legs to run away with. All in all, this is holiday destination where you'll find some of the genuine Spanish and Canarian, mixed with a tourist destination, where you can relax and enjoy a pleasant holiday in Tenerife.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-33522597102423104452010-04-05T07:23:00.001+01:002010-04-05T07:24:09.482+01:00Costa Teguise on Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Costa Teguise on Lanzarote is a relaxing resort just north of the capital Arrecife. Here you will find great beaches, a pleasant atmosphere and great and beautiful green spaces that make this a great destination. You can also find a wide range of water sports like windsurfing, scuba diving, sailing and fishing here. Perhaps the best golf course on Lanzarote, with its 3500 palm trees, is located only 2 kilometers away. Only a 20 minute ride from the airport, Costa Teguise was built up for tourism in the late 70's, and has constantly undergone renovation, and stands today as a modern tourist destination.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Costa Teguise keeps a steady good climate all year round, but it's a little more windy here than other places on the island. This also explains why there is a large wind-surfing environment here, but especially in the summer it is good with an extra breeze. Much of the activities in Costa Teguise circles around it nice and bright beach, and from many of the hotels here, you can walk right out on the sand. Activities include windsurfing, even with schools for those who haven't tried yet, this area is also suitable for cyclists and joggers. A water park is also available, which is very popular among the younger generation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you want to do some shopping while on vacation here, the shopping center Toca is the place to visit. Here you will find, like most other places in the Canary Islands a wide range of electronic items, jewelry and plenty of souvenirs in all price ranges. Some fine restaurants that may be recommended are; Casa Luis with good tapas dishes, Isla Bonita, with its delightful dishes from the the sea and Villa Toledo with its fantastic views over the Atlantic Ocean. A little more particular alternative is the Belgian restaurant Oscars. Here you get served noodles with shrimp, sweet and sour fish and waffles for dessert, among other great dishes.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Costa Teguise is also a good starting point if you want to travel a little on Lanzarote with a car. The old capital of Teguise is located about 15 minutes away by car. Here on every Sunday it's a vibrant market, with all kinds of products to buy. The national park Timanfaya is also a great experience, where you get a glimpse of that this actually is a volcanic island. The restaurant on top, cooks your food using only the volcanic heat, which should be experienced. All in all, this is a good destination, which should be considered before your next holiday to Lanzarote.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-84155474628570172542010-04-04T11:06:00.001+01:002010-04-04T11:06:56.507+01:00Loro Parque on Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">Loro Parque is located right next to Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife, and is a great zoo with a large number of attractions for both youngsters and older people. The park is the most visited of the Canary Islands, and people are also traveling to the park from the other islands when they are on holiday, to experience all that the park has to offer. Loro Park is not just a zoo, but also an amusement park with several shows each day that includes parrots, dolphins, sea lions and killer whales.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Loro Park has a large planetaruim for penguins, an area for gorillas, a huge botanical garden, perhaps the world's largest collection of different parrots, chimpanzees, tigers, a special section for pelicans, many exotic orchids, crocodiles, turtles from the Galapagos Islands and a huge aquarium with sharks, to name some of the great things you can see here.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Puerto de la Cruz, the city that is home to Loro Parque, is located northwest of Tenerife. Approximately a 20 minutes drive from the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and just over half an hour from the south side of the island, with areas such as Playa de las Americas, Los Christianos and Los Gigantes.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There are many restaurants, cafes, kiosks and small bars inside the Loro Park. All food and drink of excellent quality. The newest attraction this year is a number of birds of the species Katanda Treetops. These birds are known for a funny song, and is not afraid of visitors and can actually feed the guests sometimes. Loro Park on Tenerife is truly an experience when you take a vacation in the Canary Islands, and you should really visit the park the next time you go on holiday to Tenerife.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-76093248706183554842010-04-03T10:31:00.001+01:002010-04-03T10:31:32.373+01:00Siam Park on Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">The largest water park in Europe is located in Tenerife and called Siam Park. It is not only the largest water park, but also the clearly largest theme park in Europe. From before one of the most famous activity parks in the Canary Islands, the Loro Park is also located on Tenerife. Siam Park opened its doors in September 2008, and is built in a Thai style. It runs a free shuttle service for visitors from both Los Christianos and Playa de Las Americas, and the entrance ticket costs 28 euros for adults and 18 euros for children.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">One of the most spectacular attractions in the park is the surf pool that is 150 x 30 meters wide, and with artificial waves of nearly 3 meters. Another exciting event is the Tower of Power, where you fall 28 meters down the water slide, past a fish tank before the flight ends in the pool. Siam Park has many different water slides and swimming facilities.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The adventure park is not just a water park, but also have some animals as sea lions, a variety of fish and crocodiles. There are several restaurants, and you will also have the opportunity to buy some souvenirs. A boat ride on the artificial river Rio Lente with waterfalls and beautiful scenery is a pleasant and relaxing trip. The whole park is built with inspiration from Thailand, and may seem like a day trip to the East even if you enjoys a perfect holiday in Siam Park on Tenerife.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-81974115441562829032010-04-02T12:47:00.001+01:002010-04-02T12:47:40.145+01:00Playa Blanca in Lanzarote<div style="text-align: justify;">Far south in the wonderful island of Lanzarote, you will find the resort of Playa Blanca. With it's calm beaches, this resort this destination is ideal for families, who yearn for a relaxing trip to the sun and summer. The beach here can actually reminiscent of that of Alcudia on Majorca, just a little smaller. Here you will find nice hotels, good restaurants, and much else that you need to relax in peaceful surroundings. Playa Blanca is not yet the most visited destination on Lanzarote, but can quickly turn it up, if more and more people open their eyes to this wonderful place.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Playa Blanca was once a small fishing port. In the recent years the resort has developed into the second largest city in Lanzarote. Playa Blanca is very popular with families because of their size and family-friendly beaches. Two more beaches were recently added to Playa Blanca, to make up for lack of space on the main central beach. Along the nicely-maintained streets, you will find a good selection of shops, restaurants and clubs.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">There are three beaches in the area and Playa Blanca is the longest. This one is situated by the harbor. To meet demand, as I said, it have been made two more beaches, Playa Flamingo to the west, and to the east Playa Dorada. The beaches here have fantastic views of Fuerteventura, with yellow sand, a calm and sparkling water for safe swimming and lots of water sports activities.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">If you desire a little more secluded privacy, you should try the beautiful beaches of Punta del Papagayo, which is near the Playa Blanca area in the south. The Papagayo beach is generally considered the best natural beach on the island. The beaches in this area is popular with both divers and those who use the snorkel. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">This is a resort that is quiet, but a good selection of restaurants and eateries can be found on the little square beyond the harbor. Here you get great seafood along with Canarian specialties like papas arrugadas, small boiled potatoes in sea salt, with a sauce that is to die for. Although this is a resort designed for families, there are also some bars in this cozy area. For a relaxing holiday in the water's edge, the Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is highly recommended!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-33165873983710783192010-04-01T08:38:00.001+01:002010-04-01T08:39:00.203+01:00Pico del Teide on Tenerife<div style="text-align: justify;">Pico del Teide is the highest mountain in Spain, with its 3.717 meters, and is also the highest mountain on all of the islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The mountain on Tenerife is also a volcano, but the last eruption here was in 1909, so there should be no danger to either residents or tourists visiting this magnificint island. Future volcanic eruptions will occur, but probably not for a long time from now. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Many tourists who travel to Tenerife, visit Teide each year. You can drive up till 2300 meters, and from there there is a cable car to 3,500 meters. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view of Tenerife and some of the other Canary Islands. On a cloudless day, you can see over to La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We recommend to go for a walk up to the Teide, the next time you plan to go on vacation to this beautiful holiday destination. It can be nice to have the car for a day, so you can catch all the different valleys running down from Teide. Great nature with a number of cactuses and other beautiful flowers. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Just remember that the cable car up the mountain is closed if the weather is bad, so if you want to go almost to the top, it may be okay to do this one day when the weather is nice. Teide and the surrounding area is a national park, and was in 2007 listed on UNESCO's list of world natural heritage. Pico del Teide is a truly majestic mountain, which should be experienced on your next holiday to Tenerife.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-113483290384423027.post-28421990468066736462010-03-31T10:18:00.004+01:002010-03-31T17:07:54.730+01:00Puerto Rico on Gran Canaria<div style="text-align: justify;">Puerto Rico is the destination in the south of Gran Canaria that attracts the most travellers every year. Approximately 2,500,000 people from all over Europe visited Gran Canaria in 2008, and a lot of them stayed in this city on the south side of the island. The city of Puerto Rico is considered the plase with the best climate, and the most hours with sun on Gran Canaria, and in the wintertime, you will experience an average of 23-24 degrees pretty much all the time.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Puerto Rico is located approximately 80 kilometers from the airport in Las Palmas, and the transport takes about half an hour with the highway that now goes all the way to the Tauro Valley. There are hundreds of different holiday resorts and hotels here, and virtually the entire valley is artificially structured. The first tourists came in the middle of the 1960's, when there was almost nothing of this tourist town. Everything have been built up for the tourists. The hotels are built up in the mountain side and it is estimated that as many as 1 million tourists visit Puerto Rico every year.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Next door to Puerto Rico is the beautiful Amadores beach, perhaps the finest of all the beaches on the Gran Canaria. There is a beach promenade all the way and it takes about 20 minutes if you are walking. Amadores has also been very developed with many hotels in the recent years, and especially the area and the beach is a favorite destination among a lot of visitors to Gran Canaria.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Part of the activities available here is heavily based around the beach and sea. There is a large water park called Atlantida Water Park, a mini golf course, a large shopping center with many shops, restaurants and bars. One can travel in many different boat excursions from Puerto Rico, sea fishing, dolphin safari, pirate ships that takes you around the island, there are glass boats to Puerto de Mogan and Arguineguin, submarine excursions and much more.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Some of the best restaurants located in Puerto Rico are among others Oscars, Churchill's, Porto Fino and Big Horn Steak House. On Amadores beach, a very good restaurant is called Amadores Beach Club Restaurant. Otherwise it is thronged by great cafes and restaurants, many located in a shopping center in the valley, and many of the Europa Center up the hill. Have a pleasant holiday to Gran Canaria and Puerto Rico.<br />
